Bay Laguna- On February 20, 2017, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-CALABARZON) in partnership with Science and Technology Information Institute (DOST-STII) organized the Science for the People: Roadshow, SETUP/ MSMEs, and CEST Convention. The event included simultaneous activities: fora, roadshow and dialogues on DOST Programs and Projects. One of the highlight of this activity- the Scholars’ Breakfast with SFTP.

DOST CALABARZON have paved the way for the DOST Scholars to directly express their appreciation and concerns on the Scholarship Program of DOST. Students from different state universities who took the chance to ask Sec. Fortunato de la Peña on his plans for the scholarship program where he mentioned his intentions to include an Immersion Program for the collegiate years.

“Sana sa puso ng scholars ay matamo pa din ang pag-unlad ng bayan. Kung mati-tiyaga ay 100 percent magiging successful kayo… DOST scholars, kung nandito kayo, mas uunlad ang Pilipinas.” Sec. Dela Peña expressed his sincere hopes that the DOST scholars would stay and serve the country which we needed more now. This year, DOST agencies are preparing for the 2018 qualifiers of the scholarship of the collegiate and the Junior Level Science Scholarship.

The DOST Secretary also mentioned that the points 3,5,7, and 8 on President Rodrigo Duterte’s 10 point agenda are where DOST intends to have an impact on and would be the center of his administration.

The DOST Scholars came from seven (7) state universities in CALABARZON: Polytechnic University of the Philippines –Sto. Tomas Campus, Cavite State University – Indang, Cavite, Laguna State Polytechnic University – San Pablo City Campus, Laguna State Polytechnic University – Sta.Cruz Campus, University of the Philippines – Los Baños, Southern Luzon State University – Lucban, Quezon Campus, University of Rizal System- Morong Campus.
