The Department of Science and Technology CALABARZON (DOST-CALABARZON) conducted the 2017 Regional Invention Contests and Exhibits (2017 RICE) last October 11-13, 2015 at Robinsons Place Dasmariñas, E. Aguinaldo Highway, City of Dasmariñas, Cavite. With the theme of “Science for the People: Fostering Invention for an Innovative Nation”, this event showcased the local inventions from inventor’s organization, senior high schools, colleges and institutions in the CALABARZON region. More than 1,400 viewers and participants witnessed this ‘Filipinovation’ event.
Engr. Raul Castañeda, PSTC Cavite Provincial Director, formally welcomed the participants. DOST-CALABARZON Regional Director Dr. Alexander Madrigal, in his opening remarks, encouraged to continuously innovate and to start creating own name to influence the local scene.
DOST’s Journey to Food Safety through Temasek Foundation International and Nanyang Polytechnic International

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) with Temasek Foundation International (TFI), and Nanyang Polytechnic International (NYPi) held its Food Safety and Technology Training Program Media Event last October 24, 2017 at the Manila Hotel, One Rizal Park, Manila.
On the previous day, Food Safety and Technology Training Program Implementation Review was also conducted by the same agencies at the Crimson Hotel, Alabang, Muntinlupa City. (See Related Article: From Learning to Action: DOST ROs, PCIEERD, ITDI, FNRI, DOH, and FDA present their outcomes from Food Safety and Technology Training Program) The 76 participants, are the members of food safety teams from DOST Regional Offices, DOST Industrial Technology Development Institute (ITDI), DOST Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI), DOST Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (PCIEERD), Department of Health (DOH), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), National Food Authority - Food Development Center (NFA-FDC), and Department of Agriculture - National Meat Inspection Service (DA-NMIS).
Through the initiative of DOST-CALABARZON’s Regional Director, Dr. Alexander R. Madrigal and the support of the whole DOST system as well as other government agencies, the Food Safety and Technology Training Program Media Event was deemed successful. One-hundred-thirty-four Participants were composed of the officials of the DOST system, national and local media practitioners, and the participants of the food safety training program held at Singapore last year.

Gearing towards enterprise improvement, safe food production and compliance to RA 10611 otherwise known as Food Safety Act of 2013, Cooperatives, MSMEs and other Food Manufacturing businesses partake in the DOST Batangas and Provincial Cooperative, Livelihood and Economic Development Office (PCLEDO) joint Forum on Securing Technical Requirements for Food and Drug Administration (FDA) License to Operate (LTO) and Certificate of Product Registration (CPR) in celebration of the National Cooperative’s Month held at PCLEDO Conference Room, Prov’l Capitol Cmpnd., Batangas City, Oct. 13.

As part of the partnership of Department of Science and Technology (DOST) with Nanyang Polytechnic International (NYPi) and Temasek Foundation Inc. (TF) in training the officials and staff on food safety and technology from 2016 to 2017, an implementation/training review was conducted last October 23 at the Crimson Hotel, Alabang, Muntinlupa City. The six agencies (DOST-PCIEERD, DOST-ITDI, DOST-FNRI, DOST Regional Offices, DOH, FDA) which participated in the seminar-training presented their outcomes on how they were able to cascade their learnings as well as how they addressed the food safety issues and concerns in their locale.

SAN JOSE, BATANGAS – A technological revolution labelled as “Egg Innovation” aimed for a well-balanced and sustainable eggcosystem highlighted the World Egg Day Celebration at San Jose, Batangas, Oct. 13.
San Jose, Batangas, known as the Egg Basket of the Philippines, is serious in preserving a holistically progressive egg industry in the country. As it contributes a significant percentage in the country’s supply of poultry products, the municipality remains aggressive in establishing a balanced eggcosystem where assurance of an environmental upkeep exists while egg industry boils up mostly. Prime movers in this undertaking are the Eggciting Products Manufacturing and the Batangas Egg Producers Cooperative (BEPCO) which are both assisted by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and Department of Agriculture (DA) CALABARZON.
