Mariposa MPC receives technology training on dishwashing liquid production

Mariposa Multipurpose Cooperative (MPC) in Balete, Batangas received a training on dishwashing liquid production from the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) - Batangas as a technology support intervention in their pursuit to venture to this kind of business, held at the cooperative’s multipurpose hall, Brgy. Magapi, Balete, Batangas, last February 16.
Since its inception, the cooperative has been involved in the retail sale of rice and agricultural supplies, with their farmer members as their main clients. However, this business of the cooperative was put on hold as a result of the COVID-19 epidemic and the Taal Volcano eruption. As a recovery mechanism, the cooperative developed business plans to stay afloat in these challenging times. Part of this plan is the venture into dishwashing liquid production, which they consider to have good market potential given the prevailing household demand.

DOST PSTO -Cavite-assisted MSME’s- Miguel Rafael Gabriel (MRG) Food Products, Sir Ezer Bakery and Maestra Panaderia underwent a Virtual Technology Transfer Training on the Production of Enhanced Nutribun Carrot Variant (ENCV), last 10, 13 February 2023. Ms. Gilda S. De Jesus, Provincial S&T Director-Cavite, graced the participants and gave her welcome remarks.
In 2015, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO-UN) listed carrots as fifth among the top 27 primary vegetable products. In addition, according to the Bureau of Agricultural Research, it is one of the most important vegetables commonly grown in the Philippine highlands. The use of carrots as an alternative to squash, is ideal, since both are nutritionally adequate in terms of vitamins, minerals and dietary fiber.
DOST-Laguna holds Inventory Control Training for MSMEs

With the aim to continuously strengthen and support Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), the Provincial Office of the Department of Science and Technology in Laguna (DOST-Laguna) held a Training on Inventory Control last February 17, 2023. The training is part of a series of capability development webinars organized for their MSME beneficiaries in the first semester of the year.
DOST-Laguna invited its assisted beneficiaries from the Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SET UP) and local Grants-in-Aid Community Based Projects (GIA-CBP) to gain appreciation and knowledge on the benefits of employing an enhanced inventory control and a digitalized inventory and supplies management in their business operations.

DOST, DA-PRDP, LGU-Tanauan inaugurate mango, calamansi processing facility for Batangas City farmer coop

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST)-CALABARZON together with the Department of Agriculture-Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDP) and the Local Government Unit of Tanauan (LGU-Tanauan) inaugurated the mango and calamansi processing facility for Magsasakang Tanaueño Agricultural Marketing Cooperative (MTAMC) located at Brgy. Janopol Oriental, Tanauan City, Batangas, Feb. 21.
The facility was intended for the production of mango and calamansi-based ready-to-drink juice drink, concentrate, and puree. The processing equipment needed during production, such as double-jacketed kettle, semi-automatic filling and capping machines, and stainless steel tables, was funded by DOST-CALABARZON under the Grants-in-Aid (GIA) program. The product formulation and processes, on the other hand, were technologies developed by the DOST-Industrial Technology Development Institute (ITDI).

DOST-CALABARZON through DOST Provincial Science and Technology Office in Cavite (DOST-Cavite) conducted a Technology Opportunity Seminar (TechOps) on Possible Adoption of DOST-FNRI “Tubig Talino” Technology, on 03 February 2023 at DOST PSTO- Cavite, Trece Martires City, Cavite.
The participants were graced by Provincial S&T Director, Ms. Gilda S. De Jesus. In her welcome remarks, Ms. De Jesus recognized the participants’ enthusiasm to learn about the featured technologies of DOST-FNRI and remains hopeful about seeing another set of Tubig Talino technology adaptors in Cavite province. Also, she acknowledges the support of City Health Office of Trece Martires City led by Dr. Lorelie Escario in the dissemination of invitation letter to the water refilling stations in the city.
