Momilo Mio Food Ventures, Inc is one of the beneficiary Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) under the Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP) of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) in the region.
To ensure food safety and good quality of their products, DOST-Rizal assisted Momilo Mio through conducting a two-day training-workshop on Basic Hygiene and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) last 28-29 March 2022 at the company’s site in Cainta, Rizal.
Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) is an important operational requirement for firms in the food industry. The training-workshop featured Engr. Trinidad Sager, a Science Research Specialist (SRS) II from DOST-Rizal, as the speaker.
Mr. Sager discussed ways on how to implement relevant GMPs in the food industry and emphasized that GMP should ultimately begin in one’s own home. According to Mr. Sager, the company must fulfill the GMP requirements by examining its external environment, construction and layout of the food premises, maintenance and cleanliness of all equipment, utensils, floors, walls, ceiling, organization and storage of waste, and the use of suitable chemicals within and around the food premises including cleaning chemicals, pest control chemicals and machine lubricants.
