TÜV Rheinland, an ISO certifying body, had recently reported that DOST-CALABARZON garnered zero nonconformities based on its second follow-up virtual surveillance audit conducted earlier this year.
DOST-CALABARZON’s regional and provincial staff joined in to share the organization’s processes and operations, as well as its best practices in accordance with its mandate and vision. TÜV Rheinland’s findings suggest that DOST-CALABARZON had been maintaining an effective management system ensuring compliance to the standards of ISO 9001:2015.
“Ang importance ng pagconduct ng virtual surveillance audit is to know kung nakaalign pa rin ang organization sa ISO 9000:2015 requirements—kung maganda ang serbisyo natin, naaattain natin ang mga targets, masaya ang customers natin, nagagawa natin ang mandate natin,” said Engr. Francisco R. Barquilla III, Assistant Regional Director (ARD) for Technical Operations, “Indicator siya not only of the accomplishments but also the productivity and efficiency of the organization as a whole.”
ISO 9001 is an international standard dedicated to Quality Management Systems (QMS). It outlines a framework for improving quality and a vocabulary of understanding for any organization looking to provide products and services that consistently meet the requirements and expectations of customers and other relevant interested parties in the most efficient manner possible.
This certification has a three-year cycle wherein a qualified certifying body conducts surveillance audits to assess whether the organization is still adhering to the standard requirements until the next recertification audit.
Despite its zero nonconformities, DOST-CALABARZON continuously strives to improve its operations for better public service delivery. Currently, all staff are preparing for the next audit activities particularly the reassessment audit scheduled next year and the coming internal audit possibly this July.
ARD Barquilla continued, “Although wala tayong nonconformance, there are some opportunities for improvement that need to be addressed. Yan ang itetake up ng Quality Core Team para maensure na maaddress yan and at the same time, magkoconduct ng document review para maassess ang validity ng ating mga forms, procedures, and policies.”
