Last July 5, 2022, DOST-CALABARZON Regional Standards and Testing Laboratory (RSTL): Halal Verification Laboratory (HVL) reaped 95% on the overall audit score deeming the organization entitled of the Halal Accreditation Certificate from the International Halal Integrity Alliance (IHIA) and the "Award of Excellence" from the Malaysian Halal Consultancy and Training Agency (MHCT) Agency, making it the very first in the DOST System. The careful inspection and evaluation covered two days and were rendered by Prof. Dr. Abdul Rafek Saleh, IHIA Executive Director and MHCT Principal Halal Consultant, with Dr. Jane Tranquilan, Director and Assistant Halal Consultant.

This is imperative to establish that the services and processes in the laboratory conform with the Halal Standards based on IHIAS 0300:2011. It assures that the DOST-CALABARZON HVL demonstrates technical competence, impartiality, and independence. This is an important part of the process for consumer protection against nonconforming products.

Part of the back-to-back activities is the “Halal Awareness Training based on MS1500-2019” participated by the RSTL Staff and Food Safety Team which was also administered by the guests – Dr. Saleh and Dr: Tranquilan.

The IHI Alliance was created as an international not-for-profit organization to uphold the integrity of the halal market concept in global trade through the establishment of global halal standards, recognition, collaboration, and membership.
