Feeding programs go beyond providing nutritious meals to children, empower and give them proper nutrition to go on with their everyday lives. To answer this, the Department of Science and Technology initiated the Community Empowerment through Science and Technology (CEST) Program to ensure that communities with malnourished children will be given proper nourishment through DOST’s complementary food technology.
Last September 19, 2022, the DOST-CALABARZON, through its Provincial S&T Office in Rizal (PSTO-Rizal), started the 120-Day Feeding Program to 163 malnourished children in Tanay, Rizal under DOST’s (CEST) Program. The event took place in Tanay Gymnasium, E. Rodriguez St. Brgy. Tandang Kutyo, Tanay, Rizal.
By partnering with the Local Government Unit of Tanay, these children were identified through the Municipal Health Unit’s Operation Timbang (OPT) conducted at selected barangays with malnutrition cases.
The program started with the welcome remarks from Hon. Rafael Tanjuatco, Municipal Mayor of LGU Tanay who thanked DOST for conducting the feeding program at their municipality.
