Dr. Alexander R. Madrigal, regional director of DOST CALABARZON, co-hosted the week-long celebration of the 2009 National Science and Technology Week of the Los Banos Science Community Foundation Inc. (LBSCFI-NSTW) which started July 20. The annual event aimed to raise public understanding of science and technology as well as inform people of DOST's role and contributions to national development. This year's NSTW focused its celebration around the theme "Science and Technology, Responding to Global Challenges."


Executive Secretary Eduardo S. Ermita is announcing full support to the 2010 Elections Campaign of the National Youth Commission. He has initiated the participation of all national government agencies including that of DOST CALABARZON in disseminating the information.

All citizens of voting age who have not yet registered or were unable to have their names successfully registered during the last election and those who have just turned 18 years of age or will be before May 10, 2010 are thus enjoined to register for the elections through the nearest office of the Commission on Election (COMELEC). Offices of the COMELEC are open daily from eight to five in the morning except Saturdays and Sundays, and Official Non-Working Holidays.

For 2008, DOST CALABARZON, through its S&T Centers, assisted six new enterprises under SETUP in upgrading production capacities through acquisition of equipment, and development of appropriate packaging system. It provided financial and technical assistance totaling PhP2.7M.


The Ministry of Science and Technology of Vietnam, in coordination with the ASEAN COST+3, the People's Committee of Hanoi and the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City as sponsors, is inviting participants to the forthcoming 4th ASEAN Plus Three Techmart to be held at the Vietnam Exhibition and Trade Fair Centre in Hanoi on September 17 to 20, 2009.

Four firms in Cavite recently received PhP3.50M in technical and financial assistance from DOST CALABARZON through its Provincial S&T Center (PSTC). Engr. Raul D. Castaneda, S&T director of PSTC-Cavite, assisted the four firms under the Small Enterprises Upgrading Program (SETUP) in acquiring state of the art equipment while four other enterprises received technical assistance in developing a packaging system.
