DOST CALABARZON, through its Provincial S&T Centers, accords high priority to improving science education with particular attention to raising public awareness of science and fostering its popularization. In support of this, PSTC Batangas once again joined hands with the Philippine Foundation for Science and Technology and Department of Education-Batangas in bringing to Batangas Province the series of mobile science exhibits in their modular form known as the Traveling Science Centrum (TSC) dubbed by provincial organizers as Sci-Fun Caravan.
From November 3 to December 10, 2010, the first Sci-fun Caravan-TSC will be open to the public for an admission fee of PhP50 per viewer at Lemery Pilot Elementary School, Lemery, Batangas. It features 42 exhibits including 3D Tic Tac Toe, Frozen Shadows, Shadow Geometry, and Well of Flowers, among others.
TSC will enable students, teachers, school officials, and administrators of the different public and private schools in the first and third districts of DepEd-Batangas to get involved in an informal method of learning science. It allows viewers access to continuous updating of basic and applied knowledge. This alternative teaching methodology takes into account gender and cultural diversity in response to changing educational needs.
TSC first visited CALABARZON from June to July 1998 in Dr. Campos University in Dasmarinas, Cavite City. From 1998 to 2005, the Science Centrum toured the provinces of Cavite, Laguna, and Quezon. In 2006, it toured Laguna, Batangas and. It repeated the tour in Rizal in 2007.
