Countless documentaries are being aired on national televisions with children traveling hours and hours from mountains or rivers just to get to school. Their Passion and their great desire to take their family from poverty are usually what drive the students to keep going. However, due to certain challenges such as health, resources, priorities, they are hindered from achieving their dreams.

As the saying goes, “serving safe food is not an option, it’s an obligation”, DOST CALABARZON in cooperation and joint partnership with DTI CALABARZON held and organized the “Awareness Seminar on Basic Food Hygiene and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)” last April 27, 2017, at the Harana Pavilion of Splash Mountain Hotel and Resort in Los Baños, Laguna. The seminar was a whole day activity attended by more than 50 participants coming from the provinces of Cavite, Quezon, Batangas, and Laguna who are into food manufacturing of products such as ube, coffee, cacao, longganisa, mushroom, cakes, pastries, etc.

Rizaleños’ love for food is palpable. The demand is so substantial that food entrepreneurs comprise 70% of the population pie.

The National Academy of Science and Technology, Philippines in partnership with DOST IV-CALABARZON, will be having a seminar-workshop on April 25-28, 2017. The three-day activity aims to capacitate scientist, researchers, local government employees, and academe members to prepare good quality and competitive research proposal for publication.

The seminar-workshop has three (3) modules for Research Upgrading and Research Performance Evaluation:

  • Module 1: Capacity Building in the Countryside
  • Module 2: Strengthening the Scientific Foundation
  • Module 3: Using science for inclusive development
