CALABARZON’s red dragon known for its unique vibrant red skin, sweet seed-speckled pulp and nutritious content has proven why it became “superfood” as technology turned it into jam, wine and ready-to-drink juice products during the training on dragon fruit-based products processing conducted by DOST Batangas and University of the Philippines Los Baños Institute of Food Science and Technology (UPLB-IFST) at V&S Dragon Fruit Farm, San Joaquin, Sto. Tomas, Batangas, Aug. 31.

TRECE MARTIRES City, Cavite – The Cavite Cacao Industry Council attended a three-day training on actual handmade paper making and production of novelty items last August 16 – 18 at Camp Dominic, Pajo, Alfonso, Cavite. The DOST PSTC Cavite tapped the DOST-Forest Products Research and Development Institute (FPRDI) to provide the technical assistance to the participants.

The 13th of August will be historical as the country’s first batch of 21st Century Learning Environment Model (CLEM) Classrooms in Lipa City, Batangas will be officially unveiled to the public. The event will commence by 2PM at Inosloban-Maraoay National High School (INHS), one of the five public schools in Lipa City equipped with a 21st CLEM classroom.

The tropical fruit known for its thorny external projections and sweet nutritious meat bulbs has gone out from being just a fruit to being Malvar’s jack(fruit) of all trades! This sweet and delicious jackfruit rich in vitamins, minerals, electrolytes, phytonutrients, carbohydrates, fiber, fat, and protein is recognized for its abundance (in different varieties) in the municipality of Malvar particularly in Brgy. Bilucao. Over the years, preparation of jackfruit meat bulbs has served as a source of livelihood to all the people of Bilucao community by supplying it to jackfruit processing companies. However, no one in the community has attempted to run an enterprise focused on processing jackfruit-based products.

More than hundred Batangueños attended the 2-day Batangueño-inspired food expo entitled “TIKME” short for Teknolohiya at Inobasyon, Kaagapay ng Micro Enterprises starring different S&T food products produced by Micro Small Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) assisted by DOST Batangas and LGU Lipa staged at Lipa City Hall, July 26-27.
